Welcome to Libertopia
I'd Rather be in Libertopia...
Where peace, prosperity and freedom reign -- a voluntary society based on mutual respect for each individual’s ownership of his/her own body and property.
Libertopia is an annual festival of freedom, community and art for sovereign individuals. It is a unique experience -- a three-day gala packed with renowned speakers, banquets, parties, films, music, art and social networking.
Over thirty leading thinkers in the movement for a voluntary society include philosophers, economists, political scientists, law professors, entrepreneurs, and artists who give short, informative, exciting speeches with ample time for question and answer interaction.
There will be breakout sessions and time to visit the exhibitors’ hall. Social networking is emphasized and enabled in a number of ways, including time-outs for interaction and celebration.
Films, music, literature and art are shared. At a sumptuous awards banquet, three individuals will be recognized for their lifetime achievements in advancing the ideas of sovereign individuals, peace, freedom and a voluntary society.
Join us at Libertopia 2010 in Hollywood for the first time gathering of sovereign individuals. Whether you are a long-time freedom activist or someone who is brand new to these concepts, you are welcome to join us in the celebration of individual independence.

Luncheons with World Renowned Speakers
Libertopia is pleased to offer the opportunity to attend three very special luncheon meetings honoring three of the leading thinkers of the movement for voluntary society. Each day of the festival, one of these giants will speak to an exclusive group of participants on subjects not discussed at the general sessions. The delicious lunches will be prepared by the outstanding Hilton chefs. Please help us honor these world renowned speakers.
Dr. Bruce L. Benson is the Chair, Department of Economics, DeVoe L. Moore Professor and Distinguished Research Professor in Economics, and Courtesy Professor of Law at Florida State University. The recipient of numerous awards in the field of economics, he is perhaps best known for his ground-breaking books, The Enterprise of Law and To Serve and Protect, but he has also published over 125 academic journal articles, and more than 45 chapters for edited volumes. At the luncheon on Friday, he will be speaking on The Road Not Taken: How Private Roads will Work in a Voluntary Society.
Dr. David D. Friedman is an award-winning Professor of Law at Santa Clara University. He is best known for his seminal book The Machinery of Freedom: Guide to Radical Capitalism, which he is currently revising for a new edition. Other books include Hidden order : the economics of everyday life, Law's order : what economics has to do with law and why it matters, and Future imperfect : technology and freedom in an uncertain world. He has also written two novels and numerous articles. At the luncheon on Saturday, he will be speaking on The Machinery of Freedom.
Stefan Molyneux, formerly an entrepreneur and executive, has become one of the most influential philosophers of freedom on the Internet. He is the host of Freedomain Radio, the largest and most popular philosophy show on the web. Passionate, articulate, funny and irreverent, Freedomain Radio shines a bold light on old topics, and invents a few new ones to boot. Stefan has written a numbers of novels as well as many free books on philosophy. His You Tube channel has over 15,000 subscribers, over 3 million views, and almost 500 videos, such as this one. At the luncheon on Sunday, he will be speaking on The Human Farm.
Richard Boddie - Master of Ceremonies at Libertopia
Libertopia is pleased to announce that Richard Boddie, who describes himself as an anarcho-libertarian-capitalist, is the MC of Libertopia 2010. Richard Boddie (pronounced "body") is a dynamic communicator and leader, and one of the nation's top motivational speakers. In addition to professional speaking, training and facilitating in seminars, workshops, conferences and conventions, he is a lawyer, adjunct professor (andragogue: teacher of adults), mediator/arbitrator, writer and entrepreneur. He has been a decathlon champion, folk singer, recreation leader, cook, jazz musician, banker, student radical, ombudsman, salesman, financial planner, private court administrator, radio and television personality, N.Y. State administrative hearing officer, fund raiser, amateur philosopher, and well known raconteur.
Scott Bieser of Big Head Press
Big Head Press published it's first graphic novel, A Drug War Carol by Susan Wells and Scott Bieser, in the fall of 2003. This book was followed by another graphic novel, The Probability Broach: The Graphic Novel" by L. Neil Smith and Scott Bieser, in 2004. In May 2006, BHP expanded into the online comics market offering full length graphic novel stories, with new pages released weekly.
Since then, BHP has published 9 online graphic novels (6 printed). Starting September of 2008, BHP moved into the daily strip genre with the sci-fi action adventure story, Escape From Terra, by Sandy Sandfort, Scott Bieser, and Lee Oaks. The first volume printing of the first 315 strips covers the first 4 story arcs in this ongoing adventure story.
Scott Bieser, General Director and Artist-in-Residence at Big Head Press, calls himself "Liberty's Cartoonist." He will be speaking about Comics and The Literature of Freedom.
Jordan Page Performing at Libertopia
Jordan Page is a young artist, singer, songwriter, and musician who uses his talents to promote a message of peace while educating and mobilizing resistance to tyranny and the erosion of American civil rights. He embodies the protesting spirit of past years that is so rare in music today.
Armed with truth in song, he has raised up his voice in opposition to extreme military foreign policies, the corruption of the Federal Reserve, suppression of free speech, subversion of the Bill of Rights, torture of prisoners, warrantless domestic surveillance, and oppression perpetrated by the state--subverting your freedom.
Jordan Page's music is a reaction to these forces at work in the world today, and calls all people to see that a real revolution begins with the individual.
Jordan Page will be performing on Friday night, October 15, at 9:30pm in a special concert under the stars. Learn more about this exciting young artist at his web site and see his video of Liberty on You Tube.
A Gift for Libertopia members from Louis Carabini
Famed investor and businessman Louis Carabini, the founder of Monex, wrote Inclined to Liberty: The Futile Attempt to Surpress the Human Spirit to answer the critics of the free market in a way that they could understand and accept. His overriding theme is that all attacks on capitalism are an attack on liberty and the human spirit. His argument is that these attacks are futile. They backfire and don’t work to achieve socially desirable ends.
There are two ideological tendencies: to be inclined toward liberty (letting others live their lives in any peaceful way) or to be inclined toward mastery (permitting others to live only as another sees fit).
Mr. Carabini is providing a free copy of his inspiring book to all members of Libertopia.

Highlights
Screening of Star Trek: Of Gods and Men - Thursday 10/14 at 8pm
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men is a film made for Star Trek fans by a professional cast and crew who volunteered their time and talents in a celebration of forty years of the beloved Star Trek universe. More important, it is an example of how the collaborative art of filmmaking, even in a genre constrained by forty years of "canon," can be used to promote the ideals of peace, freedom and self-determination. Even those who aren't Star Trek fans can enjoy the combination of a rousing story and mind-opening themes.
Reason Magazine Cocktail Reception - Friday 10/15 at 7pm
Reason Magazine, the magazine of "free minds and free markets," is a 12th Annual Webby Awards Official Honoree selection and is listed by the Chicago Tribune as one of 50 best magazines. It covers politics, culture, and ideas with a mix of news, analysis, commentary and reviews and, according to the Chicago Tribune, does it all very well.
Libertopia is proud to announce that Reason will be hosting a cocktail reception with appetizers and cash bar on Friday evening, October 15. Join us for the celebration.
Sovereign Awards for Lifetime Achievement Banquet - Saturday 10/16 at 7pm
The Sovereign Awards for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to three outstanding individuals for their lifetime contribution to advancing the ideas of sovereign individuals, peace, freedom and a voluntary society. The banquet is a high end affair, a scrumptious feast served buffet style to allow plenty of choices for the discriminating palate. Most of the speakers are expected to attend, so it is also an opportunity to get to know them and other members. Not to be missed!
Temple 8 Multi-Media Concert - After Sovereign Awards Banquet
Temple 8 delivers a brand of exciting, stadium-ready Progressive Rock full of thick, chunky, driving riffs, melodic chords and open atmospheric vibe that defies tradition. Philosophically inquisitive and politically irreverent, Temple 8 uses poetic and politically charged lyrics to illustrate the stark state of world affairs, driving toward spiritual awakening, all laid out and wrapped around a superb, epic musical platform. Temple 8 combines the best of rock and metal with electronics and instrumentation from folk and classical music into a driving extravaganza. Controversial background video presentations and backdrops give the a band a visual appeal rivaled only by their major label counterparts.
